Three people. One shared frustration. A platform built from the receipts of our own commission statements.
We ran vacation rentals. Between the three of us, we managed nine properties across Italy, France, and the Netherlands. Every month, we watched 15-20% of our revenue vanish into OTA fees for... what exactly?
A listing page we didn't control. A calendar that double-booked. A guest messaging inbox we couldn't export. A payment processor that took its own cut on top of the commission. Customer support that, on a good day, replied in 48 hours.

We tried the obvious alternatives. The "free" channel managers that turned out to charge per booking. The enterprise platforms that quoted us €500/month per property — and called it a "discount." The "direct booking specialists" who were really just building a Wix site and calling it a day.
None of them solved the actual problem. None of them believed that the problem was worth solving — because the entire industry's business model depends on it not being solved.
So we built Solvaya. Not as a side project. Not as a startup chasing a Series A. As a deliberate attempt to make every vacation rental owner independent of OTA commissions.
Three friends, one spreadsheet, a shared realization: OTAs were costing €34K/year on a €200K portfolio. The decision to build.
Migrated our own 9 properties. 28 channels integrated. The first direct booking landed on a Tuesday afternoon in March.
Word of mouth in vacation rental communities. No ads, no sales team. Just owners telling other owners about the receipts.
200+ properties across 14 countries. € 8M+ in OTA commissions avoided in the last 12 months. Still bootstrapped, still independent.
We made an early decision: Solvaya would be owned by the people who use it, not by venture capital looking for an exit. Every feature we build, every price we charge, every customer we onboard — it answers to property owners, not to a return-on-investment spreadsheet.
